Access Anywhere

The new BMJ Best Practice app is now available for download!

As a result of extensive user research, we have built a new BMJ Best Practice app that takes up less space on devices, has a new user interface, and offers an enhanced search available online and offline. This is to ensure that you get the answers you need anywhere, anytime. The new app is available as part of your institutional access to BMJ Best Practice.

To download the app, you will need to have a “personal account” with Best Practice. These login details will be what you will use to download the new app content from the App store or Google Play.

How to access:

Access the Best Practice website using your institution’s method of access (this could be via your institution's network, OpenAthens, Shibboleth). Please speak to your librarian for more details or contact

Once you have accessed Best Practice, follow the prompts to register for a 'personal account' or log in if you already have an account. You will need your ‘personal account’ details to access the app.

Download the app
1.    Visit your Apple or Google Play store and search for ‘BMJ Best Practice’.
2.    Select the app and when prompted, use your ‘personal account’ details to sign in and download the content.

Remote access
Institutional subscriptions include remote access to Best Practice. If your organization has an institutional subscription, you can access the website remotely (from outside your institution) by creating a 'personal account' within your institution.

How to create your Best Practice personal account:

Institutional subscribers
You must register/login from within the IP range of the institution, or after authentication via Shibboleth, Athens, referral URL / proxy server for access set-up to be successful. Your institution must also allow remote access. Institutional administrators can enable remote access by contacting BMJ Customer Service at

Remote access rights are granted for the remaining duration of the institutional subscription, or for six months (whichever period is shorter). If your subscription is still live and you want to renew your remote access, login within your institution's range (as above) and your remote access will refresh.
